What are some good hairstyles for people with a lot of really thick hair?

I've had long hair since forever and I really want a change. My hair is thick and really hard to handle so I want to cut it short but i have no idea what kind of style works with thick hair. any suggestions? pictures could be greatly appreciated.

Well I have VERY thick hair too so I know exactly what you're going through. What I would suggest is first getting it thinned out. I got it done for my hair and it is so much easier to handle. Once you got that done it won't poof as much. Since it will be thinner, you can try layering your hair which will give it a very nice, easy look to it. Giving it a trim will be good so the layers will be even. Hope it works out! Sorry for having no pictures!

If it's REALLY thick then don't cut it above your shoulders...It will poof out...I have thick hair too and trust me lol it looked so horrible short. Mine is a little past my shoulders with long layers and side swept bangs, I love it. Hope this helps.

I would suggest getting it thinned out, then layered, so you leave some of it longer and some shorter, that way it's not all at the same length.
